“Hello, my name is Debora, I was born on 12/6/2018 and I will be 2 years old soon!”.

Father: Michael Mawinga 30 years day laborer,

Mother: Christina Mawinga 16.11.95 housewife.

Together with my parents I live in the small village of Marera near Karatu in Tanzania.

I am a very happy child. Unfortunately, there were serious complications during my birth, which meant that I had to undergo spinal surgery in the lower lumbar region after only one month. I still have no feeling in both feet. I also still cannot sit or stand on my own.

When I was 1 ½ years old, I was able to have targeted physical therapy in Arusha for the first time, which helped a lot. However, my parents can no longer afford the costs for the journey and the one-week stay. In March, Mama Doris and Baba Charly took care of another treatment at the St. John Paul II Rehabilitation Centre in Arusha. Again with very good success. Actually, I should go to therapy regularly, but unfortunately we don’t have the money for such a treatment. My parents no longer have a steady job. They cultivate our small land so that we at least have some corn and beans to eat.

Mama Doris and Baba Charly took care of another treatment at the St. John Paul II Rehabilitation Centre in Arusha. Again with very good success. Now I have found a loving sponsor who supports us monthly and we can now go to my physiotherapy regularly.
